After India released water into the Sutlej River, several areas of Pakistan are now facing flood-like conditions. The rising water level has led to moderate flooding at Ganda Singh Wala and low-level flooding at Head Sulemanki, according to official reports.
The Flood Warning Center confirmed that due to moderate flooding at Ganda Singh Wala, residents of riverside villages in Kasur, Okara, and Pakpattan have been moved to safer locations. At Ganda Singh, the water flow has been recorded at 128,509 cusecs, while Head Sulemanki has reported a flow of 75,000 cusecs.
Rescue officials stated that during the flood relief operation yesterday, 444 people were evacuated, 470 livestock were rescued, and over 4,000 individuals were provided with boat services. Moreover, the number of rescue relief camps has been increased from 9 to 16 to accommodate the rising emergency needs.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, urging residents of low-lying areas to remain alert as further water discharge from India could intensify the flood situation.
